The final meanderings in our short series for the festive season, today we explore the tradition of carol singing in English (and Celtic) history taking place around this time of year (Winter Solstice, Yule Tide, Christmas, etcetera).

“Wassail! wassail! all over the town,

Our toast it is white and our ale it is brown;

Our bowl it is made of the white maple tree;

With the wassailing bowl, we’ll drink unto thee.”
