Reviewing a manuscript for spelling, grammar, completeness, and consistency of style and format (in text, tables, bibliographies, and footnotes). Includes checking accuracy of in-text cross references to illustrations, captions, chapters and notes, and citations to the reference list, etc.

Also highlighting obscure, incoherent, misleading or ambiquous sentences, or non-sequiturs in factual passages, unintentional mixed metaphors, contradictions and illogicality in the argument or plot. Does not include extensive rewriting.
