If you’ve been contemplating starting up your own business or maybe expanding an existing one, the 13th Business Startup Convention—the UK’s premier exhibition for startups—will be well worth a visit. The two-day event is being held at the London Olympia on 28 and 29 November. Register for your free ticket before it’s too late.
The Business Startup Convention attracts more than 20,000 business people annually and is the fastest growing business show in Europe.
There will be lots to occupy your time (and your brain) over the weekend including seminars, workshops, speed networking, an Angel’s Den, and an event titled Midas Touch.
Guest speakers in the seminars this year include:
David Gold – Owner of West Ham Football Club
Doug Richard – Entrepreneur and former start of Dragon’s Den
Brad Burton – The Uk’s number one motivational business speaker
Rachelle Headland – Managing Director at Saatchi & Saatchi X
Felicity McCarthy – Facebook’s Head of SMB Marketing Communications
Simon Booth – Founder of Kiddimoto
Rob Halliday-Stein – Founder of BullionByPost
Dara Nasr – Head of sales for Twitter UK
The Workshops will take a more in-depth look at various aspects of business, including:
- Lead generation
- Business planning
- Branding and marketing
- Email marketing
- Financial fitness
- Google workshop
- Mentoring workshop
- Web success
Attending one of these workshops will allow you to speak to industry experts and get advice specific to your business. In order to attend a seminar, you must first register your interest on the website.
The Angel’s Den will give you a chance to pitch your business to wealthy investors who have real industry experience and business contacts who can help your business in all stages of it’s development. There will also be informal sessions where you can practice your pitches to investors in order to iron out any faults in your pitching style. In addition, there will be a series of lectures over both days of the show. You can apply for the Den on the Business Startup Convention website.
Speed Networking is a one-hour event where you take part in a series of two minute meetings, giving you the opportunity to make more contacts in an hour that you would in weeks of traditional networking. This is a great way to start filling your address book with useful contacts.
Midas Touch is a more serious version of the Angel’s Den and the contestant with the best pitch of the weekend will be crowned the ‘Innovator of the Show’. If you can deliver your pitch just right you could see your business be the subject of a major investment.
